Your tablet device will only reach the Transmitter. There is no option to send texts to anyone else, instead it will connect to automatically to her phone.

I'm not particularly concerned about the virus itself, you know. It's something I accepted willingly and have lived with for years, and I fully intend to handle the consequences on my own. I also could have cured myself at any time, but given that I'm here ten years later and haven't yet, I can only assume that I chose not to for some reason. It seems in line with what I would do; there's no sense in living without at least some risk involved.

It's merely inconvenient that I don't recall why it's behaving as it is.
