Mole Check-in
Late Wednesday night, something strange and unprecedented happens: Sakura gets a message on her tablet.
good evening committed. we have a proposition for you.
during our observation of the exercise, we've come to see you could be an incredible asset to us. you know how to talk to others and observe. additionally, you have something here most others don't, and that's a person on the inside who you would like to keep specially safe. we are of course talking about rin tohsaka. the anxiety of having your own family in this situation must be unbearable. i can understand. that's why we're offering you, in exchange for a service, protection for her.
though we're able to observe and monitor, there are a lot of you, and it gets difficult at times. we would like you to, in exchange for this special incentive, report to us about the other patients actions. if someone's talking about something that could disrupt the exercise, or if someone's acting noticeably off, let us know. give us a rundown of meetings, if you all choose to have more. that's incredibly important.
we may ask you do to something for us, every so often, but this is mostly it. just information.
what do you say? think it over, as you'll have one chance to accept, and if you do we promise your sister to be protected. you're a smart and cunning girl. we believe you'll make the right decision.

Well I prefer to err to the side of caution.
[She'll cruelly hope someone decides murder is the answer if it will spare Shirou's life.]
I was more interested in something else. Madison-san mentioned that certain areas would deliver a shock if anyone tried to open them, but we've been finding keys in some areas. Why would they be left for us to find?

But that means we were meant to find the guns, yes? Or that option was always available to us.

the risen are the type that really like playing by the rules. yeah, they modified some, but this is still a game that already had its own set. they're in control, but they won't do anything wildly outside the game's parameters.
so yeah, it was always possible for you to find that little hidden room. everything in the hospital is something that's possible for you to find.

[a pause]
How would that help you if people continue to die? I would assume we'd be more useful to you alive.
no subject
death is part of the game. once it starts, there's no stopping it. the use of the players doesn't end with their deaths.
a "win" for the Patients is reliant on patience. patience and careful consideration. it's a long play for both groups. you may not be able to find a traditional way out, but
there's a way. i've been pushing for one.
no subject
You've been pushing for one? In a way that's acceptable to the Risen should they lose?

[ A pause. ]
the game's stacked too much in their favor already. at least this way, the scenario where some of you could leave would be more likely.
i can't do much more. but this is what i can do.

i'll do everything i can to save her for you.

Please let me know if there's anything I can do to help, I
[a pause; she sent off that first message prematurely]
Will you be able to go home too, if your idea works?
no subject
that's a little more difficult.

But there is a home for your to return to, correct?

i appreciate it, sakura. but i don't know how plausible that ending is.

I understand. Really I do. I also have something in my body I can't really control. And any time I can be made to hurt someone if my grandfather wishes it. My body has never been mine.
But someone I care about has already gotten himself hurt trying to save me. I don't want him to, he deserves better, but
[Another pause here]
I want to be like him. Even if I can't help, I can at least hope for you to go home. You deserve that, too.

you all really are too good for me.
no subject
So if I am good to anyone, it just means they deserve it.
