alright. we just wanted to check. you were right last night, when you said details are muddled for us. all we wanted to do was make sure we keep what we do remember of your timelines straight.

Have you had your memories tampered with as well?

it's something we're familiar with, yeah. despite all of this, we hoped not to subject others to that.

I've never had it done to me before. But I've done it to enough people that I'm sure someone, somewhere, would call it karma.

I don't agree with them, but it could be said.

how did you tamper with people's memories?

There was a reason I asked you about nerve gas last night.

We use a mild form of it in our security systems, in the event of intruders or other undesirables trying to negatively affect our work. It knocks them out and ensures they don't remember anything for a good long time afterwards.

There's something else that I'm in the process of developing that goes a little beyond that; it ensures memory loss and renders the individual susceptible to suggestion, on top of enhancing their physical capabilities. It's something of a pet project of mine that I haven't been able to complete due to time constraints and other incidents coming up, but it's something I return to time and again.

[So, brainwashing people and making them into a mildly superpowered army, in theory.]

well that's good to know, that certainly is something to know! yeah, some of your history is a little easier to sort through, with all this in mind, we think.

My work is what drives me. I have my goals, and they align with those of the Corporation. Saving the world their way is one way to achieve what I want.

I have to wonder, however, what drives you to do all this. The collective you've mentioned... Do their goals just align with yours for now, or are those goals one and the same?

they didn't always align, but now i guess you'd say they're one in the same. it helps all of us. what we're trying to do. once this goal is met, we'll go our separate ways.

That's how it is between Umbrella and myself as well, at least nowadays. Perhaps that's why the 'former' is there in my occupation - after all, if our goals came to pass, I would have no reason to remain at my station.

That's what I'm going to choose to believe for now, I think. Until other explanations present themselves.

Do your goals truly involve seeing us alive, at the end of all of this?

they do. i told amiable last night that he may not like them, nevertheless. but they do leave you alive.

It's less that I genuinely care about parting ways with Umbrella one way or another, and more that I think we'll be...incompatible, after everything is over. But the sentiment is similar, I suppose.

Sometimes things are what they are. Because protocol dictates that they are, or because circumstances do, or because really, we don't get a say in this situation one way or another and things can just be that way because you've decided that it's so.

I'm not going to be angry with you if your answer is occasionally "I can't tell you," in other words. There's no point in it.
